Over the last month I've played the game a couple hours on my roommates PC as well as seen a lot of quite important cutscenes including the ending. Let me just say that the game went from the top of my purchase list as soon as I had the time to actually fully play it, to a "maybe sometime down the line"-purchase.
My biggest complaint would seriously be the writing, Kojima needs someone to actually look over this stuff and have the guts to tell him that he's written up some serious bullshit when that's the case..
Worst offender I saw was Quiets presumed death, that scene could have been solved in so many different ways without her having to die it's ridiculous, it's just an incredibly dumb scene for the sake of "drama".
- You have binoculars that can mark seen enemies, you can use your iDroid to actually mark drop points for equipment and stuff on your map but there's seriously no way for the helicopter to find your position in a freaking sandstorm? Really? Nobody thought of maybe putting something like a tracking device on Snake? Or did they put one on him but it breaks during a sandstorm? Did nobody think that could end up being a problem in Afghanistan?
- But even letting that slide, why could nobody translate Quiets language for the helicopter pilot? You can get live translation for every language as soon as you find one translator that speaks said language but you can't translate her language for the pilot? Seriously?
- And if you can't do that why not make up a freaking code language for her to use? Not like that's rare in military. She does understand english so it wouldn't have been difficult to teach her.
It is a stupid as hell scene
