People who can't see this really need to get out of their bubble.
Go look at any airport the next time you're on a flight ... the number of kids playing on a tablet/mom's phone outnumber "traditional" handhelds by like 10 to 1... and I'm probably being generous for traditional handhelds, its really probably more like 15:1. I fly all the time for work, and I see it every week.
Mobile is absolutely dominating the kids market. Flat out. Nintendo knows how bad its gotten, that's why they caved and decided to start making their own smartphone games.
When I'm in Best Buy, parents drop their little kids off at the freaking Apple section and leave them to play on the iPad while they go shop elsewhere.
