I still don't think it matters for the vast majority of people. Vulkan is supported by both GPU manufacturers and not long until Windows 10 will be what the majority of gamers uses. And Vulkan will also run on Windows 10.

In the end there won't be anyone who notices or cares. Except maybe Microsoft or Linux fanboys.


I personally look forward to how Vulkan wants to manage the variety of GPUs from desktop, mobile and consoles with which feature level and how much it puts the "hard work" to the drivers and what is up to the API itself which also has to support a variety of operating systems. So to say how "generic" Vulkan itself is or has or tries to be and where the necessary modifications have to take place.
