It may have had a million or so more Wii U's sold to date, but really wouldn't have made much of a difference. The system got third party support during the launch months and many developers pulled all future support because none of the games sold. Some of the developers supported the console longer than others, but even Ubisoft who stuck it out the longest completely dropped support eventually.

Third party support isn't going to help Nintendo sell more consoles because Nintendo isn't the brand most gamers care about any longer. The Gamecube had a lot of third party exclusives and shared a lot of third party multiconsole releases with the Xbox, still sold worse with Xbox having practically no support in Japan and it was the first console Microsoft has ever launched.
