The spin off Happy home designer has done great in Japan, and Animal Crossing is now an A tier Nintendo franchise which is extremely popular. Mind you, I still think that most people playing this game will be adults.

I would buy it for her if she asked for it, and even though its not my thing I would play it with her.
When we watched the digital event together she instantly recognized the characters and the branding (she has Animal crossing DS). She also liked the fact it was board game based.
