If the Wii U had full support from all the major 3rd parties, would it have competed with the PS4?

Third parties are struggling enough with just ps4 and xbone, with higher development costs there will probably not even have room for both in a few years. And Nintendo would shoot themselves on the foot if their software got a lot of competitors while not getting much more userbase like most here expects.
