Well, it needed more polish so that's a good thing software-wise. On the hardware side, it makes things look even worse. Starfox was easily the biggest game scheduled for this holiday season (Xenoblade will be great but not too many people are into this kind of game).
Don't know why people think this points to a later NX launch. If anything, it shows that Nintendo doesn't care about Wii U sales anymore and NX will release very soon (or worse: they gave Starfox less resources because of their next gen hardware). If you plan on keeping your console around, you don't mess around with release dates. Starfox will have a way smaller impact on hardware sales in Q1.
But hey: I didn't like the look of the game and maybe I'll be more interested after the delay. Here's hope!
