There was no XBox with Kinect and without Kinect. There was only XBox One that cost $499. There was no other way and other price at which the console could have been purchased.

The first price drop was to $399. To facilitate the price drop, Microsoft removed excessive unneeded burden from it.

XBox One now costs $350, making it 30% cheaper than the initial price.

There was (and still is) an Xbox One with Kinect and without Kinect. What made you think otherwise? Anyways, they are now (and you can look) each $50 cheaper due the $50 price cut each one received. When the Xbox One began shipping without Kinect it was introduced at a $399 while the Xbox One with Kinect was still retailing for $499. That's not a price cut, lol, that's a price introduction for a new model. Inventory 101.

But they didn't intriduce a new model, right? It was still the exact same model of XBox made $100 cheaper by removing one unnecessary part of it to make it easier to absorb a price cut. Then.they had to cut anither $50 because it was still too expensive for it to sell. Judging by current sales, XOne is not worth $349 to the customers either, unlike a $399 PS4 that is still valuable, judging by the sales disparity.

So for Phil to invite a PS4 price drop is rather silly (or in this case very calculated) when all sales data point to XOne needing another price cut to be able to compete.
