(1)You have some people that only love Star Fox or Pokemon from Nintendo games so they didn't buy Wii U because they didn't have reason, this espacily goes for Zelda, this espacily goes for Zelda, you have tons a people that only love Zelda and buy console only for Zelda (and yes some of them already played Zelda WW and didn't want to buy Wii U because just that game). Also you have some people that are on edge to buy Wii U, they just need right exclusive (games that I already mentioned) to push them over the edge or price cut. (2) I said Wii was labeled like last gen by many many people, but that didn't stopped Wii to sell 100m and to be best selling console of that gen, so no, power isn't a problem. Wii had a huge drop in sales because Nintendo stopped to supported and Wii owners go to different platforms, and I already said that Wii U needed to launch earlier. (3) If NX will launch next year and Wii U have life span of 4 years, I dont think that would be coincidence (obviously is because of bad sales), but like I said, I dont think in that case new console would rushed, it just means that Wii U has little shorter life span than usual. But truth is that we still dont know what is NX, Nintendo said that NX isnt simply replacment for 3DS or Wii U. |
(1) people like starfox or pokemon, but no one goes out to buy a console for one game. Not only that, but this new edition of starfox isn't wowing anyone thus far, and the upcoming pokemon is a spin off fighting game. As I recall, Hyrule Warriors was also a spin off of a great franchise, but that didn't move much consoles. If both smash bros and mario kart could barely edge the wii u into 10 million consoles, then I am also not optimistic that zelda alone can edge out 2 million more consoles. History shows this. Mario kart double dash and smash bros melee are what rescued the gamecube, not wind waker (despite amazing reviews). While the wii u has room for a price cut, so does the vita so I don't know why you're bringing that up.
(2) Again, read what I said earlier. Power is not a huge issue for people early in a gen. This is because devs are still getting used to hardware from new gens. It does become really important for later in a gen. This is why people still go out and buy way more ps3's than the wii. This shift occurred before Nintendo completely abandoned the wii. This shift ocurred around the time Nintendo threw out Skyward sword and mario galaxy 2. If power is not an issue, than why have 3rd party developers abandoned the wii u before the ps4 and xbox one came out?
(3) It most certainly seems that the new console is coming out waaay too early. The fact that it is publicized far earlier than the ps4 and xbox one successors is a huge indicator. Nintendo hasn't said whether it is a replacement for the wii u, but I distinctly recall them saying that if they were to start making a game now, it would go over to the NX and not the wii u. The only reason for this is because the NX will be the wii u's (and maybe 3ds) successor.
