That's why it pissed me off when people say Nintendo hasn't utilized the gamepad, or when people say the 3DS makes poor use of the second screen, as if a game needs to suck you into an alternate dimention with over-the-top gamepad gimmicks in order to be useful.
I still maintain that Deus Ex Wii U makes the best use of the gamepad of any Wii U game, and it's just a map, inventory management, reading emails from the gamepad instead of the TV, and a hacking minigame. That's revolutionary in and of itself, and makes it hard to be excited about mankind divided knowing that stuff will be absent.
