(1) Yes, we already have Mario and Pikmin on WIi U, but we dont have Pokkemon Fighter, Star Fox, new Zelda (not HD port), Fatal Frame and Xenoblade X, those game will certanly move some consoles. (2) Dont agree. DS was selling much better than PSP despite was weaker than PSP, dont need to mentioned Wii, 3DS is selling great being in era of smartphones and tablets despite is very weak. Guess what, Wii was also constantly labeled as alast gen console and that wasnt problem when we know Wii sale numbers. (3) Incorrect, only NES and Wii had life span of 6 years, all other Nintendo home consoles had life span of 5 years, there no single console with life span of 7 years. No that is not indicator, because last gen was longest home console generation ever, PS3 had life span of 7 years and Xbox 360 life span of 8 years and we know that Nintendo home console have life span of around 5 years, thats why they released Wii U before PS4/XboxOne (much better decision would be if they released console in 2011. not 2012.), so it is expected to again release new home console again before PS5/Xbox One. If new Nintendo home console arrive next year, Wii U will have life span of 4 years instead of usual 5 years cycle for Nintendo console, but I dont think in that case new console would rushed, it just means that Wii U has little shorter life span than usual. |
(1) aside from fatal frame and xenoblade (which I already addressed), there are only Nintendo like games coming out (aimed at being family friendly with a cartoonish appeal). Once again that audience is most likely already on the wii u. It may move consoles, but most certainly not a significant amount.
(2) Are you kidding me? The wii was labeled last gen by many many people especially towards the end of the last gen. With regards to sales it showed dramatically as the wii had a huge drop off and the ps3 and xbox 360 rose to popularity.
Power is huge. While it may not be a huge factor near the start of a gen (since people still need to figure out the tech), it is a necessity near the end of a generation in order to continue producing the most impressive games. Put it this way. Next year, vita still has the potential to produce games on par with the 3ds. Wii u simply won't be able to match ps4 and xbox one games.
(3) So you are telling me that the wii u having the shortest life span, 4 years, while having the worst sales (aside from virtual boy) is a coincidence?
