It's a consumer right as it should be. It's the companies' responsibility to manage with that. Thus, it's needless to even discuss its effect on the market.
Just for the record, Steam has pretty much killed used games on PC. How? Sales. Consoles still have a long way to come in that regard. I also think it shows it's a pricing issue.
