(1) read my initial point. I said the wii u may have games that do well, but the grand majority who will buy them probably already have a wii u. Mario, pokemon, pikmin, starfox, zelda, those are all games that are most appreciated by Nintendo fans, who probably already have the system. They may move a small amount of hardware units, but nothing really significant. The only Non-Nintendo like games coming out are fatal frame and xenoblade X. And while they may end up as good games, no jrpg fans or horror fan will buy a wii u just to play 1 game in their favorite genre. Currently there are 0 other compelling exclusive horror games and jrpg games on the wii u.
(2) Power is a most certainly a problem when it comes to perception of a product. Correlation =/= Causation. In other words, Vita has other reasons why it is not selling well, but power is not one of them. The wii u on the other hand is constantly labeled as alast gen console, which is a huge problem, and guess what ... that is a power problem.
(3) Yes it does seem like they are rushing the new console. Nintendo consoles seem to only last 5 years a generation when they are not leading. Otherwise they are replaced in 6-7 years. Also, the biggest indicator of their rush is that they may transition before the generation is over. When they throw out the NX, is it still gonna be 9th gen despite it playing against ps4 and xbox one? Why haven't we heard a single shred of details about a ps5 or an xbox two? It seems pretty obvious that Nintendo wants this gen to end, and if indications are correct and they release the NX next year, they will have effectively rushed out a new console before the gen is over. |
(1) Yes, we already have Mario and Pikmin on WIi U, but we dont have Pokkemon Fighter, Star Fox, new Zelda (not HD port), Fatal Frame and Xenoblade X, those game will certanly move some consoles.
(2) Dont agree. DS was selling much better than PSP despite was weaker than PSP, dont need to mentioned Wii, 3DS is selling great being in era of smartphones and tablets despite is very weak. Guess what, Wii was also constantly labeled as alast gen console and that wasnt problem when we know Wii sale numbers.
(3) Incorrect, only NES and Wii had life span of 6 years, all other Nintendo home consoles had life span of 5 years, there no single console with life span of 7 years. No that is not indicator, because last gen was longest home console generation ever, PS3 had life span of 7 years and Xbox 360 life span of 8 years and we know that Nintendo home console have life span of around 5 years, thats why they released Wii U before PS4/XboxOne (much better decision would be if they released console in 2011. not 2012.), so it is expected to again release new home console again before PS5/Xbox One. If new Nintendo home console arrive next year, Wii U will have life span of 4 years instead of usual 5 years cycle for Nintendo console, but I dont think in that case new console would rushed, it just means that Wii U has little shorter life span than usual.
