Like obviously, it's good for the consumer, but clearly Sony's analysts are seeing something a lot of us, including me, aren't seeing that necessitates a price drop this soon. They did this exact same thing during the PS2 days. Actually, by the same point in the PS2's life, it had gotten a 100$ price cut in the US. And this will come to the west. Sony's forecast for Playstation Operating Income from july 30th confirmed it even then. It will be announced before the holiday.
