Xeno is also focused entirely on sci-fi aspects, while Star Ocean has a lot of fantasy. Xeno is turn based or has real time MMO combat, while Star Ocean is an action RPG and close to Tales (still has big differences though). Star Ocean combat is definitely better than Xeno combat. Star Ocean fields are good but don't compare to Xenoblade, although SO5's fields look really nice so we'll see. IMO you should play Star Ocean mainly for the gameplay and soundtrack, though I think SO5 will have a decent story or better (much better than SO4 at least considering they won't be outsourcing it again). |
