In other words, these changes would have come anyway, perhaps even earlier in the year if it hadn't been for Mr. Iwata's illness and his sudden death.

Good point. Some of this restructuring could well have been on the cards already, but most of it makes sense to me. The merging of the two game development groups is interesting. It makes sense with the the new directions they're taking the established IP in.
