THat will make it compete with a PS4, that will not only be at the peek of the 8th gen, both in hardware sales and in software library, but also will be at a price of 250$ or less. How can Nintendo compete in price with the PS4? Will it sacrifice power to make it cheap, make it cartridge or digital only, take a huge loss to push the console... |
PS4 get price cut around $50 in Japan, so that means around $50 for West, so new price will be $350, at end of next year we could see another $50 price cut so that leaves to minimum price of $300 at end of 2016. not $250 or less.
This PS4 price cut was expected and it will not affect in any way for developing and pricing NX. Nintendo is very aware that PS4 will have price around $300 at end of 2016. and Xbox One price around $250-300, and I don't think they will aim for higher price than competition.
Also if PS4 will have $300 price at end of next year there is no reason that Nintendo can't have console with similar power at same or even lower price, but I think they will go for less power, without optical disk and around $250 price tag.
