It's nice, but I don't think it really matters.
Would I have liked the option to buy a PS4 with an Emotion Engine and a Cell Processor added into it for PS2/3 emulation, even if it cost $300 more?

Am I going to go buy an XB1 just because I can play some of XB360's library? No, I'd just buy an XB360 for that. The thing about backwards compatibility is that it is ALWAYS extra. IT's never a necessary part of a machine, otherwise the manufacturer would just release more of those old consoles. That aside, I found the XB1's backwards compatibility especially redundant, since they have HDMI in, anyway. Plug the 360 into it and release new updates to make it run more smoothly and with the XB360 controller. Congratulations, 100% "bc".
