I think it will be really different from the TV series (which consist only of boobs and dramatic deaths for buzz now), surely better, and I'm pretty sure the TV series viewers will have to read all the books one day if they want the true (and good) ending. |
Well, it's not like AFFC and ADWD weren't guilty on the whole "useless and ridiculous travels and actions" aspect. Though I admit it wasn't as bad as what we've got on the series. They wasted a perfectly good chance to actually improve on what Martin wrote.
As for casual TV viewers reading the books after they come out, forget it. Not going to happen. GoT became ASoIaF to popular culture. Even Harry Potter, which was absolutely massive before the films, was more or less later defined by the movies and their impressions.
