Yes, you're right, that's eactly what Sony did with Vita. When they saw it wasn't doing too hot, they just let it die instead of putting effort to revive it, due to having profitablity in mind. If anything, Sony has been more profit oriented with Vita than Nintendo has been with Wii U, as Vita's memory cards were expensive and Nintendo put ALL their efforts to revive the Wii U by releasing all their blockbuster franchises on it, to no effect. Sony only put one game in one of their biggest franchises on Vita not even developed by the main team. The rest of their output only consisted of their B-rate franchises in terms of sales.
