At different points, people wanted ports of Tie Fighter (to the SNES/Genesis),
Please understand the Snes had a very limited amount of memory and a very slow procesor for its time. Wanting top PC games ported at the time, would be like demanding a Crysis port to the Nintendo Wii today.
The PS3 on the other hand has a large amount of memory and a very fast processor for its time, which if used properly can yield much greater results regarding gaming and multimedia than high end PCs can provide.
I'd say somewhere between 75 to 90 percent of games that supposedly cannot be ported really cannot be ported without some cut backs.
There's an enormous gap between if a developing company claims Crysis cannot be done on a 48k ZX Spectrum, Snes or Nintendo Wii as compared to claiming Crysis cannot be done on a PS3 or Doom cannot be done on an Amiga in 1993.
