The Super Mario Maker Sprint Thread!

Welcome, welcome! Come in! Feel free to sit anywhere. Over on that mushroom attached to a Piranha Plant will do; trust me it won't bite. I'll just put the kettle on. Anything you want in particular? You're going to let me decide? Ohoho, you will regret making that decision. So what brings you to my neck of the woods today, fellow VGChartzian?

...

What's this? Super Mario Maker is out??? Why did nobody tell me??? Quick, take the Winged Wiggler to the nearest store so that we can begin the sprint!

The Idea

So you are probably asking "What is this magical thread, Coney?". Allow me to explain. Super Mario Maker will allow us to create all manner of fiendish puzzles and levels to test each other, so the aim here is to befuddle each other with your creation. I, or someone else if my copy doesn't arrive on time, will create a level on Friday. Your task is to then beat this level. Sounds simple right? That's because it is.

However, after you have beaten this level and provided proof (a screenshot or something will suffice, or if the game registers immediately even better), the level will be redundant. And you - yes, you! - who beat the level will put up one of yours. Then we all try to beat yours to do the same, and we go on like this. At the end of a period of time (let's say the first week), I will look at all levels uploaded and select the best, with the help of some of your favourite VGC pals, to determine the winner for that week. The winner will then recieve a prize, probably in the form of a Steam Game or an eShop voucher or something of that ilk, so if you want something you know it's worth it!

There will be more to the sprint than this, but these issues will be revealed in due course. For now, here's the key points:

1. Level is created and uploaded to be challenged

2. Level is played by members of VGC, frustration and elation ensue

3. Some brain box with mad digital dexterity beats the level and posts as such in this thread

4. The level is taken down, archived along with whom beat it, and a new level from (s)he who beat it is put up

5. Return to stage 2, rinse and repeat.

So, by the end of the week we will have a real chronology of levels which people may freely return to, the time taken to beat the level, the people who beat the level and an overall winner. I guess you could say if enough people contribute, we could create our own "Mario Game" with a string of sequential levels for people to beat (even if you don't beat it first, if you post you've done it I will add you to the victors list!) for everyone to enjoy. This way, we are all focused on one level and can share the pain.

Does that make sense? Hopefully. If it doesn't, just ask and I'll clarify. I guess the only thing left to say is, get ready and good luck!
