I think GameCube controllers are great but only for games built around that play style. Not all games can adapt to having a big central face button with three buttons to the side of it. If Nintendo wants to try again with third parties, they should stick to the pro controller layout.
They should keep that Wii U to GameCube usb converter compatible with NX for its future Smash Bros game though and make it work with other Nintendo games too.
