Imo, MS should've dropped the price $50 across the board upon the launch of the ps3/wii. Then they should've dropped it another $50 a year later, then another $50 two weeks before GTAIV.

The ps3 would've never even gotten off the ground had this happened, imo. It would've been relegated to GameCube-like status, and the 360 would have sold well over 20 million by now.

 As nice as that would be in theory, Microsoft is barely making a profit in their gaming division with only a $50 price cut and you want them to have made a $150 price cut?

As nice as it would be for the 360 to beat PS3, profits are much more important in the long run. Microsoft could afford to not make any profit for one generation, but there is no way they can justify two genration without profit.
