The Wii might have outsold the HD consoles in hardware but GTAIV overall killed all Wii software.

All things considering, the Wii did pretty well softwar-wise, being outsold in software by 700k by the 360, and outsold the PS3 by 800k. I'd consider that a victory since GTA4 is probably the biggest game of this generation.

I'm not sure about your analogy.

Why?because a single game (GTA4) outsell the whole Wii's game line, even if Mario Kart Wii and SSBM were there to help,so,in another kind of logic and respecting your opinion, for me the GTA4's performance was a clear winning for any HD game.

Gee, how terrible. Let's go back a few weeks...

Oh, look! SSB:B outsold the entirety of the PS3 + 360 software sales combined!!! ZOMG!!!

Perhaps, rather than a 'clear win for any HD game', this is more of 'something to be expected when the most anticipated game among hardcore gamers on the console comes out.'

This is basically what I would have said.

Obviously if the Wii wouldn't have Mario Kart (and to an extent, SSB:B), the software would look a lot worse, but these software sales are going to be so inflated due to the huge first week sales that these types of games produce. We're going to have to wait 3 or 4 weeks to see where sales settle to say who really "won" the war of Wii vs HD and 360 vs PS3.

Edit: On second look, the 360 version of GTA4 sold 2.3 million, and the Wii had 2.9 million software sold, so you're first sentence isn't true.
