Nobody bat an eye when Sony & Activision did the same to the jimquisition though (on a non-let's play, non-monetized video).

Hardly anyones batted an eye at that Shovel Knight content locking amiibo.

If I remember correctly, the whole Shovel Knight amiibo thing is something that Yacht Club Games decided on their own. Their using a different factory to make them and the main use for the amiibo (as we know it)  will only be for their own games. So I can only imagine they were the ones who decided what should be locked behind the amiibo.
