Unfortunately it's more of a demographic issue, Sony and Microsoft have really just eaten up the entire sports demographic, and Nintendo is really not a big player in that, and this isn't anything new, from the GameCube onwards Nintendo sports games have sold very poorly compared to their PS/XBox cousins.
But I do think EA will give NX some support at launch. Nothing mind blowing, but ports of Madden and FIFA I think they will have to test the waters.
If anyone is to blame it's really Microsoft. Before the XBox, sports games used to sell OK/decent on Nintendo platforms, but since XBox came into the market, it just pushed Nintendo consoles completely out of this demographic.
