Indeed. It'd fit with some songs but not all of them.

Considering the vast majority of people in NA don't speak fluent Japanese and thus won't understand basically anything from any of the songs, I can safely say they could have Miku dressed as a tap dancing fish for half of the songs and most people would just roll with it. You also underestimate how okay people are with chibi. After the abomination that was FFIV DS that people fell all over despite the chibi graphics wrecking any kind of mood the game could have tried to set, I've come to accept that people will accept anything being chibi'd to hell and back.
