| Nautilus said: It would bring more harm than good.First because there are people like me that dont buy digital, for different reasons, and they would lose this audience for a silly reason.Second is that they would ruin their relation with retailers and such, as Soundwave has said. And third:its an unnecessary gamble that Nintendo would take.If a company wants to make a digital only game, just do it.There is nothing preventing it Nintendo is not in a position, like it was with Wii, to take a huge chance and end up with a second console failed in a row. |
People like you are, first, in the minority, and second, fickle. If gaming begame all digital, 99% of people who prefer physical wouldn't give a shit and keep gaming reguardless. 99% of people who like Nintendo wouldn't look at a new Metroid on the NX and say "NOPE! No disc, no buy!" They'd shut the hell up and deal with it because the games are what matter.
As I have said, it wouldn't ruin anything with anyone. There are measures that can be done like I've mentioned, and frankly, even if they weren't done, it wouldn't matter because Nintendo doesn't need retailers. Do retailers stop the iPod, or the Kindle, or PCs, or literally any other digital content ditributor from rendering their physical competitors largely obsolete? No. They are all more successful, make more money, and retailers just deal with it.
And the most annoying thing is when people say it's a gamble. It's not a gamble. It's not a risk. It's literally a giant red sign reading *GET THE FUCKING HINT ALREADY.* It's already been proven massively successful and superior on every single form of media including gaming with PC. Consoles are literally the last man standing that hasn't gotten with the times in this reguard, and Nintendo doing is literally the easiest and most obvious move towards success. If you don't like it, you can just get a PS4 or XBO and buy physical there, like the millions who still buy books. Doesn't stop Kindle, ebooks, and the iPad from being massively successful anyway. Won't stop the NX.
If the NX fails, it will not be because it went digital, just like the Wii U didn't fail because it added a screen to its controller.
