I don't think I've ever seen consoles that were nearing a decade old get more major releases in a calendar year than that of a current gen console. Even in the Dreamcast's case it was only because SEGA pulled the plug on it after barely 18 months on the US market that it didn't get any major releases the latter half of 2001 and beyond, and the PS1 was barely 6 years old at the time (counting only the US / western markets).
