Kind of got the feeling from the E3 it was shown at a few years ago the multiplayer would be the strongest part of the game. The single player campaign had all the hallmarks of a weirder then normal attempt at creating a one man badass for a action game that some Japanese developers either succeed at or fail depending on if the audience takes to the character while making him fit into Western tropes for badass as well.
We've seen this fail before with the re-imagined Dante in DmC, combined that with a probably unrealized vision of the game's action mixing melee and third person shooting, you have a shallow single player game. Luckily they appear to have decided to go nuts with the multiplayer which means aside from traditional death match and capture the flag stuff you have things like alliances, teams and other features that make it far better and potentially enjoyable despite being built on a average at best foundation that is the single player and its game play.
Nintendo may never work with Vahallha again but I hope someone steals/adopts some of the stuff they use in multiplayer for a future release in another game.
