No, I think he meant you shouldn't hype a game you know nothing about, especially when it's not a new franchise.

With new IPs, it's different because most people generally don't know how the game will turn out.  So all they have are gameplay videos, screenshots, and previews to go on.  With an established franchise, there's no reason to base your hype purely on a couple videos you've seen.
