I'm impressed, especially at the people who value Road Warrior above every other movie, that you people still haven't realized Mad Max is supposed to be a Yojimbo kind of guy. He changes the course of the story by being someone completely unrelated to what is going on. Just like Mel Gibson, who only wanted some gasoline for his car in Road Warrior, Tom just wanted to drive away from that madness tower. They both got caught into something bigger, and they had no other way to carry on but by helping the people.
