For me this was example of how not to do spin-off.
Sure, Walking Dead can be Boring Dead as well, but Fear, with all the family focus and weak script/directing and not very engaging characters was quite a disappointment.
Honestly, I was wondering the whole time how AMC even greenlit such a weak show in the first place, specially after such a superb spin-off they had this year in Better Call Saul - well, apart from obvious milking the cow reason.
