Amiibo are a short term solution, just look at Skylanders, it was a huge success 3 years ago and now, each year less skylanders are sold, and by the next two to three years they will probably be gone forever. The same will occur to Disney Infinity and of course Amiibo. On the other side, vidoe games aren't a short term solution, you can live on it forever. There's no need to worry about amiibo taking more money, time and interest than video games, it will never be the case. The same applies to Activision and Disney. |
It is usually a short term solution because it burns out the customer, like Nintendo is doing... too much too fast, they should be planning better, they have not finished with Smash amiibos line-up and we already have Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Mario Party, Mario Maker, and more in the pipeline. Slow down a little, people are getting saturated and throw us a bone (a fan pleaser), instead of more amiibo give us a limited edition of Fatal Frame for USA, you know mix it up a little and leave amiibos for the line-up gaps.
