Well, consider this a "freemium" service. Adobe business model works that way, with extremely expensive software a student can only afford to pirate and in the end only a small part of the users end up paying for everyone.
Also what kind of jap games on pc requires DRM ? MMOs but they do as they would anywhere else on the globe, and other than MMOs there are almost only VNs (no DRM/light DRM) and indie games (no DRM).
