Oh, and as for the articles you linked...The second one is written by a writter who is famous for her crappy blog posts, and the first is written by a guy with a journalism degree and who is actually a pretty talented writter.

He's pretty crappy at doing research though. Or knowing what is and isn't racism (which I wrote my thesis on).

I personally have a Master Degree in History and we were constantly being taught to be unbiased and critical in our work/research (and why plagiarism is the worst of all evils in the academic world). I assume the same is true for journalism (they have many similarities in the way research is conducted). So that's why I make a link between integrity and a degree.

The person you call talented lacks both these skills. It takes more than a good writer to make a good journalist.
