Many people have been saying this for over a year here. Nothing terribly surprising. The moment Iwata started talking about "brother systems" and iOS/Google like unified platforms, if there was to be any type of physical medium for such a platform it would have to be something like a DS/3DS-sized cartridge. 

You can't have a freaking full size Blu-Ray disc and share that between a console and a portable. The PSVita already basically does this already, you can play the exact same Vita cartridges on the Vita TV (ahem, Playstation TV) home "console".
