| Landguy said: As far as Mad Max goes, this version was OK. The Road Warrior was still a better film. Young people will look at this years version a lot different than the people who vote for the Oscars. Young people aren't straddled with the memories of all of the 1000's of films that older people have seen over a 40-60 year span. So, they can watch Fury Road and think that it was something special, when it was really no so much from an some older persons perspective. Bottom line in MY opinion is that it was over hyped as to quality and will have ZERO chance to win an Oscar. It may get nominated because of the acting talent involved. |
Yeah, as someone who was also raised on MM1 and Road Warrior, I more or less agree with you - production values are great, lot of stuff in chases were really fun and I actually liked guitarist and thought it was quite good throwback to 80s...but on the other hand, I thought story was really crappy, Tom Hardy is piss poor compared to Mel Gibson and whole Max as support character is slap to the face for fans of original trilogy.
Still, it was a lot less crappier than I thought it would be, considering it's Hollywood blockbuster, and, more or less, everything that Hollywod touches in last few decades turns to shit.
