Advertising these days is more about impression than it is about click-thru in general. Most companies have reached the point where they realize that the user isn't looking to shop or investigate a service if they aren't specifically searching for it at the time. That is a large part of why ads have become so invasive. It is unfortunate but people are going to remember that really shitty Best Buy ad that expanded across the screen on them when it comes time to buy their computer and not the newegg border that didn't go out of its way to make itself known.
