Nintendo's aim will be to create profitability and sustainability by targetting their core fanbase and slowly building from there. But I do think they will face severe challenges. Ultimately, until Nintendo shares with us what NX really is, it is hard to truly gauge what challenges they have, and what opportunities they are offered. It is one think to have a speculative understanding of the NX, it is another if that info is true but bolstered with how they deliver other info like software etc. a shared lineup is obviously good, but it begs the question: if you dont own a 3DS or WiiU at this point, would a shared lineup really be that big of a deal to you? |
Smartphones in the end will be no different to the portable market then what PCs are to the home console market as in the end it never fully replaced what it competes with only difference is that PCs have easy means to overcome any difference in interface, 3DS will most likely finish its LT with around 70m sales which is well in line with what any of their handhelds outside of the DS has sold indicating that as a whole the portable market has never really declined to begin with and has remained consistent.
