If it was just 1 company working on it, then I would agree with you. But every major company is supporting VR including Samsung, Sony, Microsoft, oculus and Facebook, Valve, and more. Given all of their involvement, I predict VR to be done properly within the next 2-3 years, especially since VR has been in the works for years
