Innovation just means doing something differently or a new concept it's not subjective.

In the strict definition of the word 'Innovation' yeah it's just a new concept.

Which means whether it is good or bad _is_ subjective.  Maybe the gamepad was 'Innovative'.  It was still a crap idea and will be dumped or made an afterthought next cycle, just like the wiimote is an afterthought this cycle.
