this game might not sell well, no marketing hype plus a lot push backs. not sure if NIS even showed it in E3 or gamescom.

I think they showed it off at E3, don't remember anything from Gamescom though.

Even with these delays, I have to wonder if it's possible for the game to perform worse outside of Japan than it has in Japan. I mean, Japanese sales of the game have been abysmal. Bad bad bad, crash and burn bad.

I think you're forgetting just how badly it did in Japan:

44./00. [WIU] Rodea the Sky Soldier (Kadokawa Games) {2015.04.02} - 2.725 / NEW

3DS version didn't chart.

Even if it were a megabomba for NISA (and I think it will be), it's going to outsell Japanese sales.  But I guess it depends what your definition of "perform worse" is :P

I think it's quite sad what's happening with this game.  It looks good.  But it doesn't seem to be attracting any Nintendo fans, and the NISA-faithful either don't own a WiiU or 3DS or just don't seem interested in it since it's not their usual kind of game.
