Mighty impressive for sure.
According to Wikipedia, it's behind Mario at 509m, the Super Mario subseries at 298m and Pokemon at 270m. The page hasn't been updated though, Super Mario misses over three years of sales and three-quarters of NSMBsales and GTA itself is still too low there but apparently with 220m it surpassed the Wii series at 200m, which is up-to-date, to take fourth place (or third discounting SM). Call of Duty is behind that at 175m indeed, we'll see if that franchise can catch up to GTA before GTA VI hits...
