Didn't you enjoy the numerous times when he, the least skilled and prepared member of the group, swore to stand up and protect the weak women in his group, i.e. folks who could easily crush him anytime they wanted, and thereby only caused more trouble for everyone? I enjoyed those segments myself.

Yeah, I mean, if you think about it, Saber is only one of the greatest warriors in all of history and one of the most powerful beings in the present world.  She might as well have been begging for a male high school student who typically gets schooled by his female high school teacher in kendo to protect her.  What is she going to do, fight her own battles?  Pfft.
