But Super Mario Land, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros., Tetris and Duck Hunt were all bundled too. So Wii Sports passing SMB will still be significant.
As to the top selling franchises, I believe the top 5 is actually roughly like this:
1. Mario -- Well over 300M
2. Pokemon -- ~160M
3. Sims -- 120M+ (They're celebrating 100M for "The Sims" alone right now... SimCity and other Sims games account for the rest.)
4. Final Fantasy -- 80M+ (They reported sales of 80M some time ago.)
5. Grand Theft Auto -- 70M+ (They reported sales of 70M some time ago; probably now closing on 80M with catalog sales and the GTAIV launch.)
I'm not sure if one of the major Football franchises is up there around 70M too, but I think all three (FIFA, Pro Evo, Madden) are pretty high up there. And Tetris is almost certainly up in that range too. And then there's a whole bunch of series in the 40-60M range, including Donkey Kong, Zelda, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, Sonic, Dragon Quest, Tom Clancy, etc.
"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
