343 can't please everyone. But I'm glad its in their hands now given how mediocre Destiny was.

It did review well, but it was missing something that the older Halo games had.

I also don't see Destiny as evidence that Bungie would have done a bad job with another Halo game. They are very different types of games after all, and the issues that Destiny has/had aren't things that would really translate over into a more traditional fps.

Though honestly, I think Halo Reach would have been a good place to leave the series. Halo 4 felt like it spent too much time trying to justify it's existence.

Every Halo game is missing something that previous games had, but they tend to make additions people like. That is why people are divided on what is the best Halo game and every Halo game has an active community.

Bungie basically made another Halo at its core. The gameplay mechanics feel fine in Destiny because its a Halo clone. But Bungie dropped the ball on story and competive multiplayer.

Halo 4 was great. Solid campaign and story. More importantly gameplay was arguably the best its ever been.

You could argue they are milking the Master Chief character. But Halo isnt an IP that needs to end because there is more going on in that world than MC's adventures. There can still be great Halo games without that character and maybe they will eventually move on from MC.
