So what are we thinking? 240 million from overseas just to break even?

At 122 mil budget yeah. But even China has standards, though really bad movies have flown before.

Seems like these days marketing budget is not included in that production budget number, unlik in the past apparently. So the total cost will be well above $120 million. And apparently China only lets 25% of box office gross leave the country, so that slashes the % accruing to the stodio down to about 40%. All that probably adds up to the movie needing to do over $300 million at the foreign box office to try to break even. It's getting to be that break even point for a movie with a $130ish million production budget has a break even point of about $400 million worldwide gross when marketing costs are added. This is getting worse than AAA games in terms of ticket sales needed to break even. It won't be long before big budget movies won't be profitable with grosses below $1/2 a billion. Crazyness man!
