Worst case scenario the game flops both in japan and the west but if so not many people will actually regret the franchise.
Best case scenario the fanbase grows in the west, japanese games niche in the west grows and more and more games are released in the west, japanese game publishing grows and so do budgets, and we get more and better games. Thus PS4 becomes more attractive in Japan too, and PS4 becomes the new PS2.
Then publishers get addicted to money, they go full EA, every big franchise dies, japanese game industry go bankrupt, and it becomes the darkest timeline.
Zun becomes the biggest japanese developper because other dev is unemployed, he inspires every unemployed dev to go the indie route and a bigger japanese indie scene start getting successful, Steam finally becomes big in japan, and the industry goes full new Hollywood, and Zun contacts Nomura Kitase and Uematsu to bring us a reboot of Final Fantasy : Final Final Fantasy which becomes the Star Wars of the new jap scene.
Zun and Nomura end up happily married and everyone realises it's the best timeline.
